Janice Hartman wasn’t like most girls. Free-spirited and rebellious, everyone was attracted to her fun and effervescent personality.

The lucky guy who ultimately caught Janice’s eye was John Smith. At 19, John was three years older than her.

The couple were far from a perfect match. Whereas Janice was beautiful and vivacious, John was nerdy and socially awkward. He was described as the kind of person “you would forget right away after you met him.” Ouch.

However, John’s one advantage was that he had a motorcycle. To adventure-loving 16-year-old Janice, that was enough to win her over.

The two married right after high school but divorced four years later, in 1974. Apparently, a motorcycle wasn’t enough to sustain their marriage.
