I’ve always thought it was the saddest thing when someone goes missing, and no one seems to notice or care.

Not surprisingly, it happens more frequently to people who live alone. As someone who can relate and reads a ridiculous amount of true crime, I often wonder, Who would care if I suddenly disappeared?

As it turns out, having a partner doesn’t guarantee much of anything when it comes to someone reporting your disappearance or giving a damn that you disappeared at all.

Marsha Brantley met her husband, Donnie, a divorced dad of a teenage daughter, on a dating website in 1999. At 41, this was Marsha’s first serious relationship. The two bonded over their love of the outdoors and enjoyed an active lifestyle.

An inheritance allowed Marsha to quit her job and pursue her passion of becoming a writer while also setting up Donnie’s business. While Marsha and Donnie never had any children, Marsha led a full life.
