A man married the love of his life, only for her to be murdered less than two years later
When a woman is murdered, the first suspect is often her husband or partner. Sadly, it’s because they usually are the murderer.
But not in this case.
In this story, not only did a man lose his bride in the most horrific way, he knew the killer’s identity and had to helplessly watch him evade justice for decades.
“They were soul mates.”
Chuck and Cheryl Hall were young — only twenty-two and twenty years old — and madly in love when they married in 1979. Their wedding photo above shows a couple clearly in love; Chuck’s smile is wider than a kid’s on Christmas morning.
“I had never seen him happier…They were soul mates,” said Jackie Stiles, Chuck’s younger sister.
But the newlyweds would only have twenty months together before the unthinkable would happen.
Chuck comes home from work to a gruesome scene.
On September 9, 1981, Chuck came home from work around 6 p.m. and found Cheryl partially clothed and hanging from a bedroom doorknob. An ironing cord was wrapped around her neck. She had been strangled to death.
