Thanks, Fatim! It's absolutely maddening that he "cheated" justice by dying before his trial and prevented other cold cases from potentially being solved. But even if his DNA isn't in the national database, I hope other investigators learn of this case and are able to make some headway.
Haha you and me both! I've definitely been a sucker for sham psychics (usually just for fun in touristy places). But in speaking with friends who are true believers, I'm trying to have a more open mind about it. I think the people who claim they can predict the future are usually disingenuous. But I do think there are people who are hyper intuitive and seem to have a sixth sense about things. But now that I think about it, that could also be a learned skill that one gets simply by being a great listener and being super observant to pick up on subconscious cues that someone is giving off. Either way, I respected the psychic in this story as she didn't profess to know the future or past. She viewed her craft as simply offering a different path to gather information and the recipient could do with that data as he or she pleases. I also like how the investigator didn't view the psychic's words as gospel and he still relied heavily on good ol' fashioned police work.
Wow, I just realized that was one big rambling train of thought. :) Thanks for that thought-provoking question! It's such a fascinating topic.
