The Mercer Law School graduate told friends she was being stalked
Mercer University School of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the United States. Modeled after Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, the majestic law school building sits on top of a hill overlooking downtown Macon, Georgia.
Lauren Giddings must have felt tremendous pride every time she walked through the school’s hallowed halls. After all, she was the first person in her family to go to college.
The bright and bubbly blonde had left her home state of Maryland to attend Mercer Law School and follow her dreams of one day becoming a defense attorney.
Instead, her last few hours alive were spent defending herself against a depraved lunatic.
Background
The summer of 2011 was a busy one for Lauren, full of meaningful milestones. First, she received her hard-earned law degree. A few weeks later, in June, she headed home to Maryland to attend her sister Kaitlyn’s wedding.
After that, it was back to Macon to study for the bar exam. Ever the overachiever, Lauren was determined to pass the notoriously hard exam. She warned her friends and family that she would be holed up in her room for the rest of the summer, studying nonstop.
