In my article “The Murder of Milly Dowler,” I explore the disappearance and death of 13-year old Milly, whose life was tragically cut short in 2002 by a man named Levi Bellfield. Milly’s disappearance dominated the British news at the time and even indirectly caused the demise of the 168-year old tabloid News of the World.

But there is more to this sordid tale. It took six agonizingly long years for police to identify Levi as a suspect in Milly’s disappearance. In that time, Levi would go on to savagely murder two more women and assault hundreds of others. I wanted to shed light on his other victims, who didn’t get the same massive press coverage as Milly. I also wanted to explore what triggering events potentially caused Levi to become a predatory monster.
